Well, she'll live soon enough. And for some reason instead of thinking "witch" it comes out in my head as "weyatch" (rhymes with beyatch).
The yarn showed up today. It is really gorgeous... Several people at work were "petting" the Paton's Divine. And the green yarn in the picture forground looks like spanish moss when mixed with the other three yarns.
I'm going to try out the pattern this evening.
Unfortunately, I don't know when I'll have time to work on this.
Why, you ask?
Because I refuse to be seen in public with the giant knitting needles (a.k.a. knitting dildos) needed for the project. When I look at these I think "is it bigger than a baby's arm? Why, yes. Yes it is."
UPDATE:
Blast! with four strands of yarn, even on the huge-assed needles, its just too thick and fluffy to be wearable here in Phoenix. Working with the yarn actually made MY fingers feel warm, a feat in and of itself.
I'm going to split the yarn - Swamp Witch's cousins, Desert Witch and Forest Witch. I may give Desert Witch away to someone with some, I don't know, skin color, because it'll probably wash me out...
OMG! I just signed up for CraftMemo.
It would take me weeks... ok, maybe months, to inventory all my crap, but... I'd never buy a second copy of a scrapbooking book I already own! I'd know how much of that blue yarn I had left in my yarn bin! (with internet access). There is no way in hell I'm going to attempt to inventory all my paper or brads... but my stamp sets, stamp pads, the brand of my paper cutter if I needed a new blade, what sizes of knitting needles I already own, do I need more adhesive?! The possibilities!!
Hmmm. I should probably get cracking, and I'll need to bring my laptop to the scrapbook convention.
I wonder if craftzine is any good (via The GregTM)
Ah, my next knitting project. I think I will covert it into a poncho (since I don't do shawls), but I like the colors, and it will be fun to tell people the name of the pattern too.
Found all the yarn on Herrschner's. But what an evil store! EVIL!
I'm feeling a bit hesitant to take this project on the bus with me, since the size 35 knitting needles I bought may look like large pointy dildos. Then again, maybe that would prevent people from sitting next to me!
I think I may have stumbled on to something.
And practice my intarsia, because I'm going to "need" these.
Did anyone catch the Knitting for Charity episode of Knitty Gritty last week? I really want to know where to get the pattern for the poncho/wrap thingy that Vickie was wearing. Apparently the episode was shot more than a year ago... I hope she'll answer the questions on her blog!
People who knit ponchos kill people!
I finally got my glorious pink poncho all stiched up and ready to wear when the weather cools off again. It was a super simple pattern from Vogue Knitting on the Go: Ponchos.
Also finished up a couple of cute cell phone cozies (spelling?) this weekend.
Now, to learn intarsia so I can make a backpack with a monkey face on it...
Thank god for the internet! I've been reading directions in my knitting books on how to do an increase and COULD NOT understand what the hell they were talking about in the instructions...
Then I found these fabulous snippets of Hot Knitting Porn videos! Free download! No age verification required!
Wow. This is just really awesome.
Especially considering my most favoritist food ever, is BACON... followed by buttercream cake frosting.
TiVo grabbed me a great Knitty Gritty today (on DIY Network) with a super easy Swiss Darning (or, duplicate stitch) technique that you can use to put designs on stuff instead of switching yarns! I think I'm going to make this bag but add a super-cute skull and crossbones instead of the pattern shown on the show...
I'm still working on a "Gender-Neutral Baby Blanket" for a friend of mine (due in September?) and a crocheted sweater pattern from Debbie Stoller's The Happy Hooker (great book, BTW). Instead of the orange in the book, I'm using a 75% cotton, 25% acrylic yarn with just a little bit of stretch in that nice lavender color... Hoping it'll turn out ok.
